Ideology and Understanding looks at the ways in which ideology works in order to reveal the threat that it poses to our understanding. Using an intra-disciplinary and trans-historical analysis, the text grants its reader the most comprehensive examination of ideology it can muster. In so doing, it locates a firm vantage point from which can be resolved social antagonisms by way of altering the epistemological foundation of contemporary society. Ideology and Understanding follows a dark, deliberate, delicate path to and from this vantage point, in search of a fundamental relationship to understanding such that the individual might begin to navigate the world, himself and the Other — a path towards understanding, that is, transcendent of ideology yet beyond the measure of method.
